Alex Warren struggled with his family life before settling down with wife Kouvr Annon.
Warren grew up outside of San Diego in Carlsbad, California, with his brother, Grant, as well as sisters Lauren and Ashley. When Warren was a child, his dad died after battling kidney cancer. His mother was deeply affected by her grief and struggled with alcoholism.
“Dad passed away when I was 9 of cancer. My mom spiraled ever since then I mean rightfully so,” Warren said during a March 2026 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “Single mom [with] four kids right during the recession left with nothing and she just didn’t want to live anymore and so she just drank and drank and drank.”
Warren explained that two of his siblings were not around during their mother’s struggles because his sister was in college and his brother was in the Marines.
After Warren turned 18, his mom kicked him out of the house. The “Ordinary” singer was homeless and slept in friends’ cars. During that time, he connected with Annon via Snapchat. Annon moved from Hawaii to San Diego to be with Warren. The couple got married in 2024.

Alex Warren’s Father
Alex Warren’s father’s name has not been publicly revealed. The musician shared that his father inspired his love of music.
“So I feel like he bought me my first guitar and being able to play music and be able to sing and watching his face when I didn’t know what I was playing and it sounded God awful,” Warren reflected during a December 2025 appearance on the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast. “But knowing that he got to cherish that memory was probably a big one for me.”
Warren’s dad died in 2009 from kidney cancer.
“Watching my dad go through chemo and slowly start to break down,” Warren told Shetty. “And he still, every day, woke up at 5 a.m. to be able to hang out with me before he went to work to provide for what was left once he passed.”

While the identity of Alex Warren’s mother has been kept private, the singer has been candid about her struggles with alcoholism.
“My mom would drink at 5:00 a.m. and sleep all day,” Warren said on “Call Her Daddy” in March 2026. “She would start drinking at like 3:00 or 4:00 a.m., stay up all the way to take us to school, and then she would sleep all day from there, and consistently miss us from picking up, you know, at school, but then would be alive and well at like 8:00 p.m.”
The Grammy nominee added that he believes his mother was deeply affected by his father’s death.
“I think my mom cared about having kids with my dad. And once that disappeared, it was just, ‘I hate this. I hate my life. I hate my kids. I hate the things that I’m in.’ And I don’t think she meant it in that way, but I truly just don’t think that she wanted to live anymore,” he shared. “She did what she had to do to survive, and that was to drink her life away.”
Warren’s mother died in 2021 but before her death, she attempted to get sober.
“I remember the last text she ever sent me before and I stupidly didn’t respond. The last text she sent me was, ‘I have a problem. I’m going to AA’ and she died,” he recalled. “She tried. She either thought knew something was wrong and she tried to fix it and it was too late or she tried to fix it and she died trying.”
