The sister of rising motocross star Aidan Zingg shared a heartbreaking online tribute following her brother’s death at the age of 16.

Alexandria Zingg, 18, took to Instagram on Sunday, June 29, to post a carousel of photos that showed her alongside Aidan as well as the athlete dressed in motocross gear and enjoying time with his family.

Aidan reportedly died on Saturday, June 28, in a mid-race accident that occurred during the 2025 Mammoth Motocross event in Mammoth Lakes, California.

Alexandria’s Instagram post included an emotional caption that detailed her adoration for Aidan. “The things I could say. The stories I could tell. It’s been a day and I feel like it’s been a lifetime. My heart is completely broken,” she wrote. “You used to joke that I was so old and that I’d die first, I would always joke that you were crazy and you’d be the first. Now I’m sitting here wishing with everything that I am that you were right so I’d never have to live a day without you.”

The post continued, “I have no idea what today, tomorrow, or the rest of my life looks like without you in it. I had everything planned. God had a different plan. I’ll forever find myself longing for that last hug, that last I love you that I never got. You are a light. The vibrancy to every color in my world.”

Motocross journalist Donn Maeda wrote of Aidan’s incident via the social media platform on Saturday. “I’ve been told that he suffered fatal injuries at Mammoth MX today,” Meada’s post read. “My heart goes out to the Zingg family. I can’t even fathom what they’re feeling. Rest easy, buddy. 🙏🏼.”

Motorcycle outlet DirtbikeLover reported that Aiden “went down in a corner during the race” and was “reportedly run over by multiple bikes” as a result of the incident. The site claimed Aidan “remained unconscious on the track for two laps before the race was red flagged.” (A red flag signals that a race must stop and all drivers must “reduce their speed and proceed safely to the staging or pit area,” per Dirt Bikes 101.)

The official cause of death has not been announced. Luxury Handbag Shopping reached out to Mammoth Lakes Police Department for comment.

Alexandria’s Instagram tribute also touched on how she will move on without Aidan. “I will forever see you in everything I do. Every time I step into the show pen it will be for you,” she wrote. “I will work twice as hard, be twice as good, shine twice as bright, and it will never fill the space you’ve left but I will do my best to pick up where you left off.”

Her post concluded, “I could write a thousand more things to you, but I’ll save them for my prayers. I love you so much it’s unreal. Fly high but don’t go too far. I love love love you bud. #rideforaidan #aidanzingg #rideforaidan39.”
