Selling the OC‘s Gio Helou and wife Tiffany Helou are mourning a pregnancy loss as they try to expand their family.
“Pregnancy loss. Two words I never imagined would be mine,” Tiffany, 35, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, November 30. “The emotional and physical pain of the last two weeks has been immense, and yet it came at a time when we are reminded to focus on what we are thankful for.”
In her candid social media post, Tiffany recalled the moment she discovered she was expecting to the time she realized it was an ectopic pregnancy.
“It was our first month trying to conceive baby #2 and the happy shock and surprise at those two pink lines was quickly washed away in a wave of blood tests, ultrasounds and an ER visit, all confirming that it was an ectopic pregnancy that never had a chance of survival,” she wrote. “I’ve cried out to God countless times since this began, WHY? Why did our precious poppyseed-sized embryo implant in the wrong place? Why did we even get pregnant if it was going to end this way? Why did this happen to us?”
Gio, 36, and Tiffany, who are raising 14-month-old Theodore Georges Helou, have been opening up about their road to parenthood. Before getting pregnant with their son, the couple tried for a year and sought out a fertility specialist.
After celebrating Theodore’s 1st birthday in September, Gio gushed about his role as a dad.
“Fatherhood is life changing,” he exclusively told Us at Mary Bonnet’s book launch party. “Thanks to my wife, Tiffany, it’s been an incredibly fulfilling experience being a father and it turned real estate into not my entire life, but just a fraction of it in a good way.”
Despite their pregnancy loss, both Gio and Tiffany are relying on their faith and trying to find the positive.
“In the deepest moments of grief, I still have joy… joy in our sweet Teddy, joy in the strength of my marriage, joy in our family and friends who have been walking alongside us, and joy in God and his goodness,” Tiffany wrote in her latest social media post. “My body failed because we live in a broken world. But God did not fail. He has a plan and a purpose for this pain.”
After sharing her news, Tiffany received supportive messages from her Selling the OC family including Tyler Stanaland, Lauren Shortt and Lisa Victoria.
“Love you all,” Polly Brindle wrote in the comments section. “Sending you strength.”
The thoughtful messages do not go unnoticed by the grieving couple.
“Overwhelmed by the messages of love and support since sharing this and grieving with all the mamas who shared similar stories with me,” Tiffany wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, December 1. “This world is so Broken but God is SO good.”
