Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts were one big, happy blended family while celebrating their son Sasha’s high school graduation.
The exes reunited on Thursday, June 5, to watch Sasha, 17, walk across the stage and receive his diploma. “The graduate!!!,” Schreiber, 57, captioned a family photo from the afternoon.
In the snap, the Perfect Couple actor and Watts, 56, flanked their son. Schreiber’s wife, Taylor Neisen, and Watts’ husband, Billy Crudup, were also part of the graduation crew and posed with the proud mom and dad.
Schreiber wore a navy suit and blue undershirt and had a camera hanging around his neck, while his wife opted for a denim dress and yellow handbag. Watts was ready for summer in her floral dress and straw sunhat. Crudup, meanwhile, wore navy slacks and a light blue shirt at the event.
Watts later shared her own picture from the milestone occasion via her Instagram Story. The Mulholland Drive actress embraced Sasha in the photo, while Schreiber smiled on the other side of the teenager. (Sasha appears to be going to University of Southern California in the fall to study dramatic arts, according to his social media.)
Watts added a superimposed black graduation cap on top of Sasha’s head and added, “Congrats!” to the post. The former couple’s other child, Kai, a 16-year-old model, didn’t appear in any photos.
Schreiber and Watts began dating in 2005 and were together for 11 years before announcing their split in September 2016.
“Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple,” the pair wrote in a joint statement at the time. “It is with great love, respect and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship.”
Two years later, Schreiber sang his ex’s praises while speaking about their lives apart.
“It’s always hard, you know? You build a life with someone, and things change,” the actor said during a January 2018 appearance on Sunday Today With Willie Geist. “And I think the way that we’ve looked at it is that we’ll always be partners and that’s what kind of keeps us together and keeps us amicable. But I think we’re more than that, I think we also genuinely really care about each other.”
Schreiber and Watts’ love for one another and their children has remained constant since they parted ways.
“We’re doing things very differently,” Watts told PorterEdit in August 2019. “I’m pretty proud of us, corny as that may sound. We’ve made it our absolute priority to be good and kind to each other and we’re absolutely committed to that.”
Over the years, their blended family has expanded to include Schreiber’s wife, Neisen, and Watts’ husband, Crudup, both of whom tied the knot in 2023.
Schreiber and Neisen have since welcomed their first baby, daughter Hazel, born in August 2023. Crudup, 56, also shares son William, 21, with ex Mary-Louise Parker.
