Vanderpump Rules alum Lala Kent is shutting down speculation that she favors newborn daughter Sosa over her eldest child, Ocean.
During the Wednesday, December 11, episode of her “Give Them Lala” podcast, Kent, 34, called out people who criticized her for referring to 2-month-old Sosa as her “dream baby,” saying, “People are even taking that as far as to say in the comment sections like, ‘How would you feel if you were Ocean and seeing things like that?’ And I’m like, ‘Why is everyone making a thing out of nothing?'”
Kent noted that she considered Ocean, 3, her “golden child.”
“She’s my golden child because No. 1 what we experienced,” she added while referring to her messy split from former fiancé Randall Emmett. “But she’s the kid who made me a mom. She’s so freaking spicy and so freaking sweet all at the same time.”
While clarifying her comments, Kent stood by her description of Sosa.
“She is the dream baby because she wasn’t the product of just two people falling in love and procreating or a one-night stand,” she continued. “She was the dream baby because I thought so hard on her and thought, ‘How am I going to make this happen?’ I really want a baby on my own, but how do I do it?'”

Kent became a mom when she welcomed daughter Ocean with Emmett in 2021. After her high-profile split from Emmett, Kent expressed interest in having more kids on her own. She subsequently documented her pregnancy journey after deciding to go through intrauterine insemination (IUI).
“I will not even attempt to try and do it a different way. I don’t want another person involved,” Kent said about considering a sperm donor during a “Scheananigans” podcast episode in November 2022. “There’s such a high chance of it not working out, especially where we live. I’m not taking the chance. Like, I am so scarred from all of this s— that has happened in my life.”
Kent announced her pregnancy earlier this year and welcomed daughter Sosa in September.
“For real though, Ocean is absolutely obsessed with Sosa,” Kent wrote via Instagram at the time. “It was love at first sight. We are all over the moon about the newest addition to our pod. I can’t wait to share all the moments of this new chapter and blessing in our life. I’ve been enjoying every second. Lots of skin-to-skin, lots of boobie time, lots of staring and thanking God.”
On Wednesday’s episode, Kent was trying not to let the backlash about the descriptors get to her.
“She arrived and she’s healthy and happy. The structure that I’ve created, it’s like, ‘Wow, I had dreams about this moment of expanding my family by myself and we did it,'” she noted. “So I don’t know how we took on that term because I had to discipline Ocean. Then all the comments, I feel like not a good parent right now.”
