Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated his daughter’s birthday while honoring his late son in a bittersweet post on social media.
“¡Feliz día, mi amor! Nuestro amor siempre está contigo. #AngelyBella. 🥰❤️,” Ronaldo, 40, wrote via Instagram on Friday, April 18, alongside a photo of him and daughter Bella, 3, cuddling in the grass together.
His caption also paid tribute to Bella’s late twin brother, Angel, who died in labor in 2022. Along with Bella, Ronaldo shares daughter Alana, 8, and twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 7 with partner Georgina Rodríguez, who he has been with since 2016.
“My babies are 3 years old today. I love you with all my heart,” Rodríguez wrote via Instagram on Friday as well, alongside a video of Ronaldo saying “I love you very much” to Bella.
“This video with dad is one of my favorites 💕🧡💞🌸💝✨,” Rodríguez’s caption continued. “Congratulations and thank you so much for choosing me as your mom 💞.”
In October 2021, Ronaldo and Rodríguez confirmed that they were expanding their brood, writing via Instagram, “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins. Our hearts are full of love — we can’t wait to meet you. #blessed.”
The model and soccer player announced in April 2022 that Angel had died in childbirth.
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,” the couple wrote in a joint statement via Instagram at the time.
“Only the birth of our baby girl [Bella] gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness,” their statement continued. “We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
Ronaldo is also father to Cristiano Jr., 15, whom he shares with a mystery woman whose identity he has agreed to keep private.
“People speculate I was with this girl or another, or there was a surrogate mother,” the athlete said in an interview with Jonathan Ross in November 2015. “When Cristiano is going to grow up, I am always going to say the truth to him because he deserves it, because he is my son, but I am not going to say because people want me to say.”
Ronaldo’s comments at the time echoed his 2010 birth announcement for Cristiano Jr.
“It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father to a baby boy,” Ronaldo’s statement read. “As agreed with the baby’s mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship. I request everyone to fully respect my right to privacy (and that of the child) at least on issues as personal as these are.”
