Britney Spears and Kevin Federline‘s sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, have started going by their mother’s world-famous last name, Luxury Handbag Shopping can exclusively confirm.
However, Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19, have not made any legal changes to their names.
Luxury Handbag Shopping has reached out to reps for Spears and Federline for comment.
The news comes after Spears, 44, shared Instagram photos with both of her sons for the first time in years on Sunday, March 29. The trio posed together aboard a boat, with Spears standing in the middle as Preston and Jayden towered over the 5-foot-4 pop star. The boys matched in white T-shirts, while their mom wore a cropped pink shirt, low-rise white denim shorts and large black sunglasses.
After Spears was arrested last month on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, her rep told Us she would be “spending time” with Preston and Jayden while her loved ones came up with “an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”
Spears was once estranged from both of her sons, but she reunited with Jayden in 2024 and more recently reconciled with Preston too. (Preston and Jayden moved to Hawaii with their father in 2023, but the pair have since returned home to California.)
“The boys are maturing, and they want their mom in their lives, and Britney is really happy about that,” a source told Us last year. “She’s so grateful to have them in her life. She feels whole again.”
A second insider added at the time, “They want the best for her and know that having a relationship with her will only help matters. She’s much happier with them in her life. Anyone with eyes can see that.”
In January, a source exclusively told Us that Spears was helping Jayden “connect with some producers she’s worked with in the past” as he prepares to launch a music career of his own.
“She definitely wants him to utilize her old relationships so he’s protected and guided through this,” the insider explained.
The Grammy winner — who described herself as “retired” after the 2021 termination of her controversial 13-year conservatorship — has even said “she’d be open to collaborating with Jayden, but it’s still a very early idea,” according to the source.
Spears welcomed Preston and Jayden in 2005 and 2006, respectively, while married to Federline, who is also the father of daughter Kori, 23, and son Kaleb, 21, with his ex-fiancée Shar Jackson as well as daughters Jordan, 14, and Peyton, 12, with his current wife, Victoria Prince. Spears and Federline, 48, divorced in 2007.
