Angelina Jolie doesn’t think her children with ex Brad Pitt will be following in mom and dad’s acting footsteps.

“No, I think they’re especially shy, very private people,” Jolie, 49, told E! News at the AFI premiere of her new film Maria on Saturday, October 26, “and they want to be private.”

The Oscar winner shares Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox with Pitt, 60.

As they entered their teenage and adult years, Pitt and Jolie’s kids have stayed away from the big screen and have focused on their own passions.

Maddox, Pax and Zahara, however, stepped out at the New York Film Festival in September to support their mom’s new movie. In the flick, the actress portrays the famed 20th century opera singer Maria Callas.

“It’s meant everything,” Jolie told Extra at the time about her kids’ support. “Before you get out in these things, you’re as nervous. They just said, ‘No matter what, Mom, good luck and we know how hard you work and we love you.’ You know, you just have that moment where the people who are with you tell you, succeed or fail, they care about you.”

Although her kids may not be interested in the acting profession, they have shown signs of wanting to work behind the scenes. Her two oldest kids had the opportunity to work on Maria by assisting director Pablo Larrain.

“Mad and Pax were on this one doing AD [assistant directing] work,” Jolie told The Hollywood Reporter in August. “They’ve done that quite a few times, and I think that’s good for them. Pax tends to do stills and he gets brought in, and Pablo was wonderful and recognized that he was good at it.”

While some may wonder what took so long for Jolie to return to the big screen — her last role was in the 2021 movie Eternals — the actress said she wanted to be home more with her kids. Now that they are older, she’s ready to explore new characters once again.

“They’re a bit older, getting more independent,” she explained to the publication. “I’m less needed and so able to go away for different periods of time. And they’re old enough to join me at work. It’s a new season in our lives. I’m very excited for them to be coming into their own more and more every day.”

Maria is scheduled to hit select theaters on November 27 and is available to stream on Netflix December 11.
